Life, as we know it, has shifted—how we get around, interact and move through our everyday is different than how it was just five years ago. With intelligent technologies on the rise, it won't be long until an interconnected world is achieved. But this is not easily done--  it involves a collective effort from all organizations, governments and people. Like all societal evolutions, there is a starting point. Technology plays a significant role in how our society adapts. Gone are the days where each phase of your journey was isolated. Now, advancements have allowed us to achieve seamless interactions, with few touchpoints possible. Like with all things, there is still a desire for more—this is where urban mobility comes into play.

Urban mobility is not a new concept; however, it is not commonly known. Naturally, if it is not understood, it cannot be acted on. So what is urban mobility, and how do we achieve it?

It is essential to know that urban mobility isn't a destination; it's a mindset—one that encourages the interconnectivity of leveraging all assets in a single, cohesive manner. It is comprised of various aspects that work together to make one unified journey. Not only is it the way people, goods and services move through a city, but it is also a result of technological collaboration to make cities safer, keep traffic flowing, improving energy efficiency and reducing our carbon footprint.

Urban mobility is prevalent in how parking operators aim to create a seamless journey for their customers by integrating innovative technologies like mobile payment and reservation platforms, digital permit software, and virtual customer service. Parking is a key component in our journey to becoming smart, and achieving urban mobility intelligence. Creating a smart parking facility has become more and more sought after, as smart buildings aim to connect their visitor journeys at all touchpoints. As buildings transition to become smart, it is only a matter of time until all entities work together to create a unified, smart city.

Using technology fuelled by urban mobility intelligence, how we live, work, and play has been revolutionized and will continue to adapt to meet society's evolving needs. It's not just about getting from point A to point B; it involves everything happening between those two touchpoints—from the comfort of home, to commuting to arrival.

Today, convenience is no longer a desire but a necessity. The sole fuel of this need for convenience is a result of the age of the smartphone. A technology that connects us, places and things quickly and more efficiently than ever before. Creating a gateway that allows organizations to drive advancements in urban mobility.

Society is facing an urban renaissance that continues its advance and brings remarkable technological possibilities. Such possibilities are made possible thanks to an increasingly fine-grained electronic connectivity of people, places and objects. Smart urban mobility creates a sense of new opportunity, of progress. Major cities are leading the charge, adapting to become smart cities as the need for interconnectivity and their populations grow. It is time for us to follow suit, offering a willingness to adapt to the future of urban mobility. To bring sustainable and smart closer together, it is vital to ensure that all the goals of smart urban mobility are being met: affordable, attractive, effective and sustainable.

As we navigate this digital age, it is up to society to create a more sustainable and interconnected way of life. How we see the world before us will only change as we work to connect all aspects of our day-to-day lives, allowing us to live, work and play effortlessly. Together, we can achieve urban mobility.
